How It Works
The Steels Creek History Portal is designed to make it easy for community members to contribute, and simple for us to keep the archive clean and organized.
How to share your story
Contributing is simple. You don't need to be a writer, photographer, or historian—just someone with a story to tell or a memory to preserve.
What we can accept
Photographs (old or new), documents (letters, certificates, clippings), oral histories (audio or transcribed), family stories, timelines, maps, artwork, and memories. Almost anything that helps preserve Steels Creek's history.
Quality & accuracy
We take care of the history we're preserving. Every story is reviewed—not to change your voice, but to ensure accuracy, add helpful context, and check for spelling or factual errors.
✓ We'll add context
If we recognize people, places, or dates, we'll link them to other stories so readers see the full picture.
✓ We'll give credit
Your name, your family name, or however you want to be credited—it's always clear who shared each story.
✓ We'll fact-check gently
If something seems off, we'll ask. You know your story best, and we trust your memory and knowledge.
✓ We'll protect privacy
If a story mentions private details or people who've passed, we'll discuss what's appropriate to share publicly.
